The engineer apprentice will learn to read programming icons, and follow graphic instructions to create working models for the robotic projects, namely, Airplane Rescue, Giant Escape, and Sailboat Storm. Lego-Robotics: Adventures Stories (6/29-7/2)
Youngsters will learn to read graphic instructions and guided to apply those concepts to program their robots. Basic design concepts and building techniques, which is the basic essential of robotics, will be introduced. Mechanical science principles related to gears, levers, pulleys, wheels, and axles will be introduced to campers through the exciting Lego building projects. Through projects, demonstrations, and games, students will be introduced to basic engineering and programming concepts. Please see Daily Schedule for more details. Extended care, with structured indoor and outdoor activities, is available during before-camp and after-camp hours. Students entering G2 with previous Lego experience are good candidates to join the upper grade group.
Students are divided into lower and upper groups, entering K-G2 and G2-4, respectively. Besides programming, building executive skills, problem solving, as well as team building are also essential objectives of the camp. Powered by LabVIEW, a user-friendly icon based, graphical drag and drop programming environment is used to implement the curriculum. To foster interest in engineering, Lego-Robotics Camps are designed to introduce basic programming concepts to children entering K to G4 through a series of extremely engaging robotics projects.
